The Packers and Jets have been playing a game of chicken for roughly a month. Even though Aaron Rodgers wants to play in New York this fall, a trade hasn’t materialized.
It hasn’t been confirmed, but Green Bay’s steep asking price could be a major reason why Rodgers remains on the Packers.
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Packers want a 2023 second-round pick and 2024 first-round pick from the Jets.
NFL fans, however, don’t envision any scenario where the Packers actually receive a 2024 first-round pick in return for Rodgers.

Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari recently suggested that Green Bay could just absorb Rodgers’ contract for the 2023 season if the front office doesn’t receive a trade offer that comes close to its demands.
“So then they’ll be like, ‘Well, we’re gonna suck anyways. We want what we want, and we’re not gonna bend to anyone. So we’ll just eat it. . . . We’ll pay you, we don’t care. If we’re gonna do it our way, it’s gonna be on our terms. If not, what are we gonna be, Super Bowl contenders anyway? So we’ll eat it, you can hang on the side. We’ll pay you your money, and then we’ll suck anyways, get the picks, as compared to dealing him for something that you shouldn’t have,'” Bakhtiari said.
It’ll be fascinating to see how this Aaron Rodgers drama ends.
