The Green Bay Packers added Derrick Coleman to their coaching staff.
On Tuesday, the team officially hired the former fullback as an assistant to player engagement. Coleman, who lost his hearing at age three, became the NFL’s first legally deaf player on offense when joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2013.
Fans congratulated Coleman, who last played in 2018, on landing a new job.
“Wow that’s amazing,” a fan wrote.

Coleman scored two touchdowns during his five-year career. He blocked for Marshawn Lynch and a dominant Seahawks rushing offense that won a Super Bowl.
The undrafted free agent from UCLA finished his playing career with one season for the Atlanta Falcons and one with the Arizona Cardinals. Duracell chronicled his story in a commercial that first aired in 2014.
Green Bay represents Coleman’s first NFL coaching opportunity.
