On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers selected Iowa defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Hawkeyes star held a watch party back home with all of his family and friends — including his girlfriend, Frankie Kmet.
Kmet is the younger sister of Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet.
“Unreal. Bear down baby! Congrats @colekmet U deserve it all,” she wrote after her brother was selected with a second-round pick in 2020.

Kmet went viral after Van Ness was drafted on Thursday night. The ABC feed of the watch party showed an awkward interaction between her and Van Ness’ father.

Over his final two seasons leading the vaunted Iowa defense, Van Ness recorded 13.0 sacks and 19.0 tackles for loss. Some people considered the Packers taking him at No. 13 as somewhat of a reach, especially considering the team needs some new offensive weapons for young quarterback Jordan Love.
With Van Ness in Green Bay, he’s set to face off against the Bears and his girlfriend’s brother twice per year.
