15 years ago the New York Jets made a trade with the Green Bay Packers for an MVP, Super Bowl-winning, future Hall of Fame quarterback. In the wake of the Aaron Rodgers trade, that quarterback – Brett Favre – is reacting to the move.
In a text message to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Favre exclaimed that he expects Rodgers will “do great” with the Jets. He believes that the transition from Green Bay to New York will be fine and that he will elevate the players around him.
“Aaron will do great!!!!” Favre said. “He will handle the transition as well as anyone. [He’s a] very smart and instinctive person, on and off the field. In other words, you’re not going to catch him by surprise very often.
“And I think [he’s] the best at making everyone around him better. I would rather not bet at all than best against him.”

The Jets are probably hoping that their Aaron Rodgers deal is better than their Brett Favre deal though.
Back in 2008, they started 8-3 and were on pace for one of their best seasons ever with Favre as their quarterback. But a midseason injury to Favre limited him severely and they wound up finishing 1-5 and missed the playoffs.
Favre retired and was released before joining the Minnesota Vikings and leading the to the playoffs the following year.
Will history repeat itself in 2023 with Aaron Rodgers?
