After initially suing Pat McAfee for defamation, Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre decided to drop the litigation against him this week. He then made a rather rare statement on Twitter.
On Thursday, Favre tweeted that he’s “happy” to have settled the litigation with McAfee. He accused McAfee of “attempting to be funny” by commenting on the allegations of welfare fund misuse against him and said that they would both rather talk about football.
“I’m happy that Pat McAfee and I have settled this litigation. Like Pat said, he was attempting to be funny and not commenting based on any personal knowledge. We’d both much rather talk about football,” Favre wrote.
Favre has turned the replies off on that tweet but that hasn’t stopped fans from going after him and asserting that he’s the one in the wrong.

“No, you dropped it and YOU would much rather talk about football rather than stealing from poor people,” one user said in a quote tweet.
“They didn’t “settle” it. Favre dropped the lawsuit because there was nothing there,” another wrote.
“Come on the show & talk football then lol,” a third dared.
Favre doesn’t even use his Twitter for talking football that much anyway. This was only the second tweet he’s personally written without retweeting since September and the first tweet in that same span where he even mentions the word “football.”
