Quarterback Kurt Benkert will be one of the easiest players to root for during training camp. The Green Bay Packers signed Benkert in May for a chance to compete as a backup quarterback. The former Atlanta Falcon has been in Green Bay only for a short time, but he’s already becoming a fan favorite.
Benkert loves family, video games, and using non-traditional ways of traveling to work. Follow Benkert on any of his social media pages, and you will see him riding a skateboard or scooter to Lambeau Field. In what can only be described as a stressful offseason for Packers fans, Benkert has been a breath of fresh air.
On Sunday, Benkert posted a video to his Twitter of him and his family visiting the team pro shop to pick up a jersey for his wife. The cashier said candidly, ”Wow awesome jersey, I love Kurt Benkert,” only to look down the counter and see Benkert standing there recording.
It was a great moment to capture.
Story time:
We went to the pro shop today to pick up a jersey I had made for my wife.
Wife goes to the counter, and the kid who gives her the jersey says, “Wow awesome jersey, I love Kurt Benkert.”
My wife says, “Well he’s right over there.👉🏼”

The very next day, Benkert posted a picture of what he would be gifting Joey, the Benkert superfan. Joey received a signed football and Benkert trading cards, all featuring the athlete’s signature. Benkert’s gesture was an awesome display of character and showed why he is a terrific fit in Green Bay.

Benkert is beloved for his off-the-field antics, but he has his work cut out for him when it comes to making the team. He is low on the depth chart and could receive only a small helping of reps in practice and the preseason. However, that shouldn’t stop the fanbase from supporting Benkert, who is a nice guy that just so happens to play for the Packers.
