Key Matchups in Green Bay @ Cleveland

September 19, 2025 by Packers Talk

The 2-0 Green Bay Packers will play at the 0-2 Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Green Bay has been dominant after wins against a divisional opponent and another NFC contender. Cleveland is 0-2 following a close loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Today we take a dive into the 3 key matchups in Green Bay @ Cleveland.

Green Bay Pass Rush vs Cleveland Offensive Line

The first key matchup in Green Bay @ Cleveland is the Packers pass rush vs the Browns offensive line. According to PFF, three of Cleveland’s offensive linemen rank in the top 10 in pressures allowed through the season’s first two weeks. Dawand Jones and Cornelious Lucas have combined to allow 18 pressures and three quarterback hits. The Browns will need all the help they can get going up against a Packers pass rush that is tied for second in sacks. The pass-rush is the game-changing factor for the Packers on Sunday. Don’t be surprised if the defensive front pressures Flacco into passing inefficiency. If the Browns rely on getting the ball out of Flacco’s hands quickly, there will be opportunities to jump some throws and create a turnover.

Green Bay Run Defense vs Cleveland Rush Offense

The second key matchup in Green Bay @ Cleveland is the Browns rushing offense vs the Packers run defense. The Browns offense got a boost from rookie running back Quinshon Judkins who ran for 61 yards on only 10 carries. All other Cleveland Browns running backs rushed for only 46 yards. The Packers rush defense was supposed to be the “weak link” of this team but the emergence of defensive tackles Devonte Wyatt and Colby Wooden have been key to the strong start. Linebackers Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper have both taken steps as players. If the Packers are able to slow down Cleveland’s running game, they’ll be able to unleash their pass rushers against 40 year old QB Joe Flacco.

Packers Offensive Line vs Myles Garrett

The third key matchup in Green Bay @ Cleveland is the Packers offensive line vs Myles Garrett. It’s no secret who the Packers need to be worried about this week. Myles Garrett is a true game-wrecker with bad intentions. Green Bay’s offensive line will have its hands full with Cleveland’s pass rush. However the Packers’ offensive line has been one of the better units in football. Holding opposing defenses to just two sacks. While Garrett typically lines up over the left tackle, which would be Rasheed Walker, he be looking to exploit an offensive line that could be without its best player if right tackle Zach Tom is inactive again. Stopping Garrett should be priority number 1 for the Packers if they want to win Sundays matchup.
