Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is battling an ankle injury that limited him in Wednesday and Thursday’s practice. The former first-round pick has been the workhorse in the Green Bay Packers offense, recording 58 carries for 180 yards and two touchdowns on the season. As of this posting, Jacobs does not have a game designation for the Sunday Night Football contest against the Dallas Cowboys.
Generally speaking, “limited” means that a player is nursing an injury in the buildup to the game but will ultimately play. While there’s no way to definitively know what the future holds for Josh Jacobs, this injury probably won’t sideline him for the week. However, if he can’t play, Green Bay’s roster could get a little messy.

Josh Jacobs Injury Update: Star Running Back Limited At Practice
As of this posting, the only other running backs on the active roster are Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks. 2024 third-round pick Marshawn Lloyd is also with the team, but the USC product is currently on the injured reserve and will not factor into the equation.
If the injury keeps Josh Jacobs off the field, Emanuel Wilson will likely be the primary starter. The former undrafted free agent was the clear backup to Jacobs last year, finishing the season with 502 yards and four touchdowns on 103 carries. While he doesn’t bring much to the passing game, the Fort Valley State product has decent burst, knows how to follow a block, and fits well in head coach Matt LaFleur’s system.
While Wilson would see most of the work, Chris Brooks would likely handle third-down duties. Another former undrafted free agent, nobody will confuse Brooks with Christian McCaffrey, but he provides an adequate set of hands and can hold his own in pass protection.
From a fantasy football standpoint, Emanuel Wilson is the guy you want to play if the ankle injury sidelines Josh Jacobs for the upcoming contest.
