Jordan Love overcomes early INT to lead Packers to victory

December 9, 2025 by Packers Talk

Jordan Love ended the first drive with something uncharacteristic of him this season.

With the Packers driving on their first drive and everything going their way, Love faced a third down and long.

The previous play love took a sack to set up a third and long.

Love looked to redeem the sack and threw over the middle to Matthew Golden.

Instead, his pass got picked off by the Bears CJ Gardner-Johnson and halted a good looking drive for the Packers.

Luckily, the Packers defense forced a three-and-out and returned the ball back to the Packers.

Love never looked back and didn’t let his mistake affect him.

Instead, he did what he has done all season: protect the ball.

It’s the way, he carried himself through the game, not breaking under pressure, even after the interception.

Love’s composure and confidence helped the Packers get the win over the Chicago Bears 28-21.

In his third year as the Packers starting QB Love is making strides to become yet another great Packers QB.

Finding Watson in the second quarter

Jordan Love kicked off the scoring in the second quarter against the Bears.

The Packers used the running game to set up the passing game to set up their opening touchdown.

On the drive the Packers ran the ball 5 times compared to passing the ball 4 times.

Furthermore, of the 4 passes, 2 of them were for over 20 yards.

The first was a 21-yard pass to TE Josh Whyle on a 3rd and 2.

The other was a 23 yard pass to Christian Watson which resulted in a touchdown for the Packers.

Both of those passes came on 3rd down, a down the Packers have been about to convert all season.

Deep to Melton

Who would’ve thought that Bo Melton would have a part in the Packers offense.

After all, he made the switch to cornerback in the offseason to help the Packers depth at corner.

Lately though, Melton has been working with the offense to help the WR’s.

Love and Melton though struck gold near the end of the first half.

While the Packers could’ve settled for a field goal, Love and the Packers offense decided to go for it all.

With the Bears putting up a field goal, Love and the Packers offense began their drive at the Packers 40 yard line.

A mistake by Bears kicker Ciaro Santos on the kickoff placed the bal in great field position.

Love wasted no time, taking 3 plays before hitting Melton deep for a 45- yard touchdown.

The score gave the Packers a 14-3 lead and momentum going into the second half.

Speedy Watson to the rescue

The Packers offense came out cold in the second half, going three and out on their first drive in the third quarter.

The Bears did the opposite, they used the halftime to make some changes and drive right down the field to score their first touchdown of the day.

A one-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to Olamide Zaccheaus made the score 14-9.

But the Bears weren’t done yet as they added a two-point conversion to make it a one score game 21-14.

You could feel the momentum shifting and the Packers needed someone to step up.

Thats where Jordan Love and Christian Watson stepped in.

On the Next drive, once again the Packers only took 3 plays before Love found Watson again, this time for a 41-yard touchdown.

Yet again, the touchdown came on a third down, as Watson took a quick slant and used his speed to find the endzone.

The score put the Packers up again by 2 scores.

Coming in clutch

Jordan Love finished the day 17/35 for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns.

But it was his performance on third downs that really made the difference.

Of the three touchdowns Love threw, two of them were on third down, when the Packers needed it the most.

And when the pressure was on Love was able to find a way.

Against the blitz, Love was 9 of 12 for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Love will need to face that same defense in a couple of weeks.

But Sunday’s victory over the Bears showed the poise and confidence the Packers have in their franchise QB.
