Jordan Love Explains How He’ll Be Different As Packers Starting Quarterback

Jordan Love will step out of Aaron Rodgers’ shadow and lead the Green Bay Packers into the 2023 season.

After three years on the bench, the former first-round pick will receive a starting opportunity. The Packers locker room won’t be the same without Aaron Rodgers.

During Wednesday’s press conference (h/t Pro Football Talk), Love addressed the differences in how he’ll conduct himself as the QB1.

“It’s exciting,” Love said. “I think there’s a lot of energy around it for myself. I think I can kind of step up and be a little more vocal knowing that I’m the guy, not being the backup.”

When asked about his leadership style, Love expressed his desire to instill confidence in his teammates.

“I never want to be negative around guys,” he said. “We all want the same goal. We all want to be great.”

Love said he’s “improved drastically” since arriving at Green Bay in 2020. With only one career NFL start, he hasn’t had many opportunities to show that progress.

However, Love looked sharp when completing six of nine passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in relief of Rodgers in Week 12 last season. Despite his limited reps, the Packers signed him to an extension worth up to $22.5 million in 2024.
