QB1 In Green Bay

After being selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jordan Love took a route similar to that of Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers. Sit and learn. Love wouldn’t see the field in regular season action in 2020, but appeared in six games in the 2021 season including a start against the powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs while Aaron Rodgers missed due to being listed on the Covid-19 protocol.

In that 2021 game against the Chiefs, Love went 19 for 34 through the air for 190 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also ran five times for 23 yards. Love also played significant minutes against the Lions in week 18 of the 2021 season going 10-17 for 134 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Jordan Love so far in pre-season:

130 Yards
12/18 Passing

124.7 QB Rating

The Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay ended this off-season when the 39-year-old quarterback was traded to the New York Jets. As a reward for taking over the starting job in Green Bay, Jordan Love got a one-year contract extension on his rookie deal through the 2024 season worth up to 22.5 million dollars.

Taking the Reins

The Packers are notoriously quiet in free agency and that was the case again this year. Bringing in nobody of notoriety for offensive help despite the departure of wide receivers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and tight ends Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis. In the first three rounds of the NFL Draft, they selected a wide receiver in Jayden Reed. As well as two tight ends, Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft.

Christian Watson returns as the main pass catcher after catching 41 passes for 611 yards and seven touchdowns last year in 14 total games but started only 11 of those games. Romeo Doubs will line up opposite Watson, Doubs caught 42 passes for 425 yards and four touchdowns.

Protection + Patience + Precision.

Quite the recipe for success.

For Love, the question is after three seasons sitting and learning behind Rodgers, is he ready to take the reins as the main man in Green Bay? Love showed the ability to flash in 2018 as a redshirt sophomore for Utah State. He set career-high marks in completion percentage (64) and passing yards (a school-record 3,567). Love only tossed six interceptions while throwing for 32 touchdowns. Jordan Love has also looked good in the preseason so far going 12 for 18 for 130 yards for two touchdowns and a 124.7 quarterback rating.

Using Sleeper ADP, Jordan Love is currently going as the 23rd quarterback in single-quarterback leagues. Love is the perfect stash at 185.6 in case he hits big. Where Love could really come into play for you big time is Superflex leagues. Love is going off as the #21 quarterback on the board at pick 83.1. If you grab a quarterback early, Love may be the perfect second option for your team. Or if you want the safety net of a player who has unknown potential as your third quarterback.
