Alexander signed a one-year, $6 million deal to play with Baltimore and his former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson

One day after Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson campaigned publicly for the team to sign former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander, the Ravens announced that the team had signed the former All-Pro. Jackson and Alexander were college teammates at Louisville, where Jackson won the Heisman Trophy and Alexander earned All-ACC honors.

At the moment, contract details have yet to be released on the deal that the two sides agreed upon, but it’s worth noting here that Alexander’s father stated on X last week that much of the issue the Packers and Alexander dealt with during their contract restructur conversations centered around the topic of guaranteed money. According to Alexander’s dad, Green Bay wasn’t willing to give the cornerback much guaranteed money, even if the former All-Pro was willing to take home less cash in 2025 than his scheduled $17.5 million.

Alexander made second-team All-Pro and the Pro Bowl in both 2020 and 2022, but only played four games in 2021 and seven games a piece in each of 2023 and 2024. When the cornerback was available, he was one of the best at his position in the sport, but injuries over the last four seasons led to him only playing 8.5 games per year.

The Packers will play the Ravens in Week 17 at Lambeau Field, a game that currently has no scheduled time or date. If both teams are positioned for a playoff opportunity that late in the season, there’s a good chance the game will be played in primetime, one way or another. Week 17, well after the college football regular season, will also feature NFL games on Saturday.

The Ravens matchup will break up the Packers’ NFC North schedule, as they play six divisional opponents in the final eight weeks of the season.

Update #1: ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Alexander signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Ravens and “turned down more” on the open market to sign with Baltimore.

Update #2: Schefter is now stating that the deal is a one-year, $4 million contract with a max value of $6 million that can be earned through $2 million in incentives.
