In one way or another, a trade has been involved with five of Brian Gutekunst’s first eight first-round draft picks as the general manager of the Green Bay Packers. He traded back before trading up to get Jaire Alexander. He traded up to get Darnell Savage and Jordan Love. And he got additional first-round draft capital in 2022 (extra first-round pick for trading Davante Adams) and 2023 (moved up two spots for trading Aaron Rodgers).
Gutekunst and the Packers are going into the 2024 NFL draft with the 25th overall pick and 10 other picks as ammunition for a trade up in the first round, if Gutekunst wants. He has that flexibility.
All teams have a strict first-round draft board. Most times, a team doesn’t have 32 rock-solid first-round options. By pick No. 25, the Packers could be out of options — so don’t rule out the possibility of Gutekunst moving up to get a player with a first-round grade on his board.
