Ian Rapoport had an update on the ongoing trade talks between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets – if you can even call them that right now.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, the NFL insider revealed that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and Jets general manager Joe Douglas don’t appear any closer to reaching a deal despite meeting at the NFL Owners Meetings this week.
“Gutekunst and Douglas talked during the league meetings but I didn’t get the sense that they were any closer to a deal,” Rapoport said.
The sticking point in the trade for the longest time had reportedly been the Packers’ desire to get the Jets’ No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but Rapoport made it clear that it was never on the table for the Jets.

The Jets and Packers could very well find themselves in a staring contest at least until the 2023 NFL Draft. If a deal doesn’t happen sometime before the, the two teams will likely resume being in a staring contest all the way until the summer.
Neither team reportedly wants to budge off their asking price for the Packers quarterback and it’s hard to blame them.
When will the trade happen? Will it happen at all?
