Wide receiver Devin Funchess first signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2020, but didn’t play for them that year. Despite re-signing for a second season in Titletown, his time with the team is now officially over.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Funchess has been released off injured reserve with an injury settlement. Funchess had been placed on injured reserve several days ago, effectively ending his season.
But with this move, Funchess is now a free agent. He can sign with any team he wants as soon as the terms of the settlement are fulfilled.
That said, Funchess may have a hard time finding a new team for the 2021 season. He’s played in just one game since 2019 due to injuries.

Coming out of Michigan in 2015, Devin Funchess was one of the top receiver prospects in the NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers wound up taking him in the second round of the draft and got solid production from him as a rookie.
In 2015, Funchess had 31 receptions for 473 yards and five touchdowns as the Panthers went 15-1 and made the Super Bowl. His production would remain solid through the 2018 season, but the Panthers chose not to extend him.
Funchess hit free agency in 2019 and signed a one-year deal with the Colts. But the aforementioned injuries limited him to one game.
Funchess signed with the Packers in 2020 but opted out of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
