Green Bay @ Detroit – Winners from Thanksgiving Day

November 28, 2025 by Packers Talk

The highly anticipated Week 13 Thanksgiving day matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions did not disappoint. An exciting game from start to finish sent Packers fans to their Thanksgiving day dinner tables extremely happy. Not only did the Packers increase their chances at winning the division, they made it extremely hard for the Lions to win the NFC North. After sweeping the Lions for the first time since 2020, today we will dive into the Winners from Thanksgiving day.

Matt LaFleur

Our first winner from the Thanksgiving day matchup between the Packers and Lions is Head Coach Matt LaFleur. Coach LaFleur has been at the forefront of many unhappy Packers fans. Some even calling for him to be gone after this year. Fortunately for Matt LaFleur and Packers fans around the world – he is not going anywhere. One of the biggest gripes with the Packers Head coach has centered around aggressiveness. After out Campbelling, Lions Coach Dan Campbell all day yesterday, there is no question LaFleur was ready to show his aggressive side. After getting swept last year versus these Detroit Lions, there was no way Coach was letting that happen again. Going 3/3 on 4th down was what separated the two teams. On top of the 4th down calls, it was the way the game was called by Green Bay. A perfect blend of pass/run mix, 30 rushing plays and 30 passes. LaFleur was in his bag all day and without his game plan and aggressive play calling the Packers don’t come out on top. Time to give Matt LaFleur his LaFlowers!

Jordan Love

Our 2nd winner from the Thanksgiving Day matchup between Green Bay and Detroit is Quarterback Jordan Love. There is something about Jordan Love on Thanksgiving day. He now becomes the first Packers Quarterback since 1950 to have won 3 Thanksgiving day games. It’s not just how Love is winning on Thanksgiving, it’s how much success he is having. His stats have been amazing, but yesterday Love was also battling through a separated non throwing shoulder. Yet it did not seem to phase the Packers quarterback one bit. He was able to pretty much move the ball at will yesterday. When Love and LaFleur are cooking like they were yesterday, there are not many teams that will be able to keep up with Green Bay.

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman posted a tweet on X sharing Jordan Loves Thanksgiving Day stats below:

Jordan Love the last three Thanksgivings:

61/90
776 yards
9 TDs
0 INTs

Micah Parsons

Our third winner from Green Bay @ Detroit is Superstar EDGE rusher Micah Parsons. What else can really be said about Micah Parsons that hasn’t already been said? Outside of Myles Garrett there is not one other player in the league any team would want closing games than Parsons. Micah gave the Packers fans a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. He has been shutting up his doubters this season. Parsons became the first player to start his NFL career with 10 sacks in each of his first 5 seasons since Reggie White. Now he becomes the first player in NFL history to have at least 12 sacks in his first 5 seasons. He really is a game wrecker, he is the Mariano Rivera of the Green Bay Packers. On a day to be thankful, all Packers fans really need to say is – THANK YOU JERRY!

Fox6now sports anchor Lily Zhao reshared Micah Parsons Instagram post after the big win:

#Packers Micah Parsons makes NFL history. He’s the first player to have 12+ sacks in each of his first 5 NFL seasons.

Dontayvion Wicks

The last winner from Week 13’s matchup between Green Bay and Detroit is Wide Receiver Dontayvion Wicks. For years Wicks route running and ability to get open on routes have been compared to Davante Adams. He has always shown flashes of getting open on routes but had a far too high drop rate(much like Adam’s did early on in his career). Yesterday we saw the best version of Dontayvion Wicks in Detroit. He was amazing from start to finish. The first touchdown of the game on 4th down, was just an amazing play(yes Lions fans that was a catch). Wicks had 6 catches, for 94 yards and two touchdowns. His most productive day as a Green Bay Packer. On a day the team certainly needed someone to step up with no Golden, Williams, or Jayden Reed playing. Dontayvion did so and then some. The last 4th down catch that Wicks had over Brian Branch was chefs kiss on an amazing Thanksgiving day.
