The Last Dance. Super Bowl or Bust. Whatever you call it, it’s time for this Packers team to confront its fate
It all starts here.
In just over 48 hours, the predictions and speculation come to an end and the Green Bay Packers’ date with destiny begins.
After an offseason filled with uncertainty and drama surrounding Aaron Rodgers, the Packers are ready to set sail on their journey to Super Bowl LVI and this year’s season should be one to remember and hopefully for all the right reasons.
Thanks to the standoff with Rodgers that lasted from the NFL Draft right up to the eve of training camp, 2021 has a series finale feel. Rodgers did come back to the team but many signs are pointing toward this being his final year in a Packer uniform. Combine that with Davante Adams’ looming free agency and other moves the team will be forced to make to get under the salary cap for next year and this really might be it for this iteration of the Packers.
Those factors plus being tantalizingly close to a Super Bowl the past two years means this team isn’t just under pressure. They’re also hungry to finally get over that hump and play for a Lombardi Trophy.
The “last dance” comparisons have gotten old at this point, but this year really has an air of finality to it.
As we enter the weekend of Week 1, some words of advice: ignore the comparisons. Just enjoy the moment and savor the time. We don’t know what the future holds, but 2021 will be a Packers season unlike any other.
Let’s enjoy it. The team is hungry, the fans are hungry. Time to feast.
Go Pack Go.
The Packers might (will?) look very different in a year’s time and that has created a sense of urgency the team hasn’t experienced in a long time. That being said, Rodgers said it has the team feeling focused rather than pressured.
These are the leaders of the Pack. 27 players however received at least one vote and 10 players received at least 10. That speaks to the strong culture in the locker room that has developed under Matt LaFleur.
Keep an eye on Kingsley Keke. You might hear his name much now but his emergence along the defensive line could be a big boost the defense down the stretch.
Not to be a Debbie Downer but this shouldn’t be a surprise. A massive extension like this will take time and the Packers will have to do some major cap gymnastics to get this to work.
The garbage man can, Marge. The garbage man can.
