No tight end in NFL history has played in 18 seasons, but Marcedes Lewis hopes to be the first.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the 39-year-old free agent tight end said that he is hoping to play for a team in 2023 and that his agent is talking to teams in an effort to get him an opportunity. He asserted that there’s “no decline” in his ability and that he’s “the best blocking tight end out there.”
“I get the business side of it,” Lewis said. “My agent is in talks with a handful of teams, but it’s just small talk. I guess teams are trying to figure out their rosters and what they need.
“But if you just look at my film from the last three years, there’s no decline in what I’m able to do. I’m the best blocking tight end out there.”
You’ll never know who you truly are until there is something to overcome .. some type of resistance. When you’re met with adversity and then are still able to handle it, now you’re on a path. Stay true.

Marcedes Lewis was a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and played 12 seasons for them, making the Pro Bowl in 2010.
Lewis joined the Green Bay Packers in 2018 and played all but one game for them, mostly as a blocking tight end.
Lewis has been a model of durability, missing a grand total of 23 games over the past 17 years and just one game since he turned 33.
Will Lewis play one more NFL season?
