It’s been a month since Aaron Rodgers announced on The Pat McAfee Show that he wants to play for the Jets this fall. And yet, there’s no sign of a trade materializing anytime soon.
In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter just reported that Green Bay and New York have not talked about a trade for weeks.
So, why are both sides playing hardball? Former Packers vice president Andrew Brandt believes it’s because there’s no real deadline for either side at the moment.
“There is absolutely no reason for either side to engage right now. And if they did, may be construed as a sign of weakness,” Brandt said. “I’m not even sure the Draft is a true deadline. Packers don’t owe Rodgers a penny until September.”

Despite all the uncertainty surrounding this situation, Jets general manager Joe Douglas is confident Rodgers will suit up for his team.
While at a live radio event for WFAN’s Boomer & Gio last week, Douglas said, “He’s gonna be here.”
Maybe the Jets and Packers will revisit their trade talks during the NFL Draft.
