The Packers confirmed the death of former fullback John Brockington. He was 74 years old.
Brockington was selected by the Packers with the ninth pick in the 1971 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he rushed for 1,105 yards.
After winning Rookie of the Year in 1971, Brockington had 1,027 yards and eight touchdowns on 274 attempts.
Overall, Brockington had 5,185 rushing yards and 1,297 receiving yards in his NFL career. The Ohio State product earned All-Pro honors in each of his first four seasons.

Brockington’s former teammates would constantly rave about his toughness.
“John Brockington was the toughest, hardest hitting running back that I knew,” former Packers left guard Bill Lueck said. “We used to joke, ‘Nobody wants to be the first guy to make contact with John Brockington.’
In 1984, Brockington was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame.
