Former NFL Quarterback Predicts New Team For David Bakhtiari In 2024

With the Green Bay Packers shutting down All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari for the season there’s a lot of speculation that the 32-year-old tackle might have played his final game in Green Bay. If he has, one of his former teammates has an idea for where he might go next.

Taking to X on Friday, former Packers quarterback Kurt Benkert predicted that with Bakhtiari already planning on returning in 2024, he’ll find a way to get onto the New York Jets and reunite with longtime friend Aaron Rodgers. Benkert joked that it’s “all in the script” for the two NFL stars to enjoy a redemption tour together.

“Bakhtiari out for the year, plans to return in 2024. My guess – in New York. Double redemption tour for two old-pals. It’s all in the script,” Benkert wrote.

Some NFL fans have pointed out that the move would make sense since both of the Jets’ starting tackles have expiring contracts. But others believe that the “turf situation” that saw Rodgers’ season end after just four plays might be unappealing to Bakhtiari.

“I would say this is a lock, especially with both Jet tackles on expiring deals. Curious about the contract terms with his injury history,” one user replied.

“He would rather retire then play on MetLifes turf for half a season,” another declared.

“On that turf with a $40M cap hit…nah,” a third wrote.

Just because a move is sensible doesn’t mean it’s bound to happen.

Will David Bakhtiari leave the Packers and join the Jets next year?
