Fans Not Happy With Packers After Cutting Player On His Birthday

July 29, 2023 by The Spun

On Friday, the Packers posted a birthday message on Twitter for linebacker Jonathan Garvin. Then, just a few hours later, he was released from the roster.

The timing of this decision was brutal to say the least.

If the Packers were planning on releasing Garvin this Friday, they shouldn’t have posted anything about his birthday on Twitter.

With that said, the Packers are getting crushed this afternoon for what many fans believe was a “classless” move.

The #Packers just released LB Jonathan Garvin … hours after they wished him happy birthday.

Not fun. https://t.co/4wZ6b4jdKD

“Dude has a birthday, they post sponsored content to celebrate, then he gets cut same day… yikes,” a fan tweeted.

Garvin, a former seventh-round pick from the 2020 draft, has appeared in 38 games over the past three years. He has 32 career tackles, seven quarterback hits and two pass breakups.

Last season, Garvin only played 19 percent of Green Bay’s defensive snaps.
