The Jets’ quest to land Aaron Rodgers is over as the team has found an agreement on a trade with the Green Bay Packers.
New York parted with a sizable amount of draft capital to land the four-time MVP. They’re obviously hoping that it will pay off with a deep playoff run or two.
However, ESPN’s Robert Griffin III feels that as it stands right now, the Jets “got absolutely fleeced” by Green Bay, even if RGIII thinks Gang Green can legitimately have Super Bowl hopes following the trade.
“The Jets are BONAFIDE Super Bowl contenders now, but that doesn’t change the fact that they got ABSOLUTELY FLEECED on this trade,” Griffin tweeted Monday. “Packers are getting a better fist round pick this year, a 2nd rounder this year, and a more than likely 1st rounder next year for 1-2 years of Rodgers.”

Griffin isn’t wrong about the Packers doing quite well for themselves in the deal. Green Bay gets to move up two spots in this year’s first round, to No. 13 overall, adds an early second round pick and also picks up an additional first-rounder in 2024 if Rodgers plays 65% or more of the Jets’ snaps this fall.
The Jets needed to get Rodgers though; they had no choice but to pay up to land the marquee QB.
Now they have to hope the move proves to be worth it.
