Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love took a lot of criticism for seemingly trash-talking the rival Chicago Bears with a “Father’s Day” message. But some added context appears to change the situation a bit.
Over the weekend Love wished Bears fans a “Happy Father’s Day” in a video, which Bears fans took as an insult and started ripping him for acting like he’s beaten the Bears without ever having done so. But in a follow-up message, the fan who originally published the video explained what was going on.
The fan, who goes by ChrisD69 on Twitter, explained that he’s a Bears fan who asked Love to wish French Chicago Bears fans a Happy Father’s Day. Chris said that Love simply forgot to specify the French Bears fans. He even included evidence with a selfie taken before the video was made.
Love then retweeted Chris and confirmed the story, saying he was asked to do a “special favor” for the fan.
“Was asked to do a special favor for this fan, didn’t think much of it lol but I see y’all really took it and ran with it. Regardless I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day,” Love tweeted.
While many people ran with Jordan Love saying Happy Father’s Day to #Bears fans on Sunday, here’s the actual backstory of what happened:

Love found no shortage of support from Packers fans:
“If anyone ever bothered to talk with Jordan Love for like three minutes, you’d see what he’s all about. I promise you…the dude just wants to play football,” one user wrote.
“Jordan Love just being a nice guy and Bears fans are trying to make him sound stupid. I Love our new QB,” wrote another.
Nevertheless, this could wind up being used again when the Packers play the Bears in Weeks 1 and 17.
