After months of speculation about his future in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers answered a major question by reporting to the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday morning. The 38-year-old quarterback will suit up for the franchise that drafted him in 2021 and proved that by showing up on the first day of training camp.
Rodgers’ presence on Tuesday will calm the nerves of Packers fans who feared that his playing days with the organization were already over and done with. His decision to report this morning signals that he’ll be ready to compete for a Super Bowl at least one more time in Green Bay.
But after this year, there’s no guarantee that Rodgers will be wearing the green and yellow. He and the Packers negotiated a restructured contract that will reportedly give him an out of Green Bay after this year. The new deal will allow the 2020 MVP to explore the free agent market next offseason and choose another team to spend the rest of his career with.
Colin Cowherd believes that Rodgers will have plenty of suitors lining up to pursue him once the 2021 season comes to a close. The FOX Sports host detailed how the quarterback has positioned himself well to land with a team of his choosing after this year.
“If Aaron Rodgers says ‘I’m available’, he will have far more suitors than Tom Brady did at his age,” Cowherd predicted on “The Herd” on Tuesday. “He’s going to be 38 after this season. If Aaron can remain injury-free, light it up, be his typical great self… he’s going to have multiple teams [interested]. It will largely be his choice because he doesn’t want to play for a tire-fire and the [Packers] know that.”

The contract stipulation was an expected concession from the Packers to get Rodgers back in Green Bay for this upcoming year. Nevertheless, it’ll sting for loyal fans of the team that had hoped to hold onto the quarterback for the rest of his career.
Before Rodgers goes anywhere, he’ll have one last chance to compete with the Packers. Now that he’s back under center, the NFC North competitors will be in the discussion to be the last team standing come next February.
