Colin Cowherd Debates Who Has Had Better Career: Peyton Manning Or Aaron Rodgers

September 14, 2023 by The Spun

DENVER, CO – NOVEMBER 01: Quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers #12 of the Green Bay Packers and Peyton Manning #18 of the Denver Broncos are surrounded by media after the Broncos 29-10 win at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on November 1, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Dustin Bradford/Getty Images)

With Aaron Rodgers out for the year and his NFL career hanging by a thread, Colin Cowherd is pondering what Rodgers’ legacy will be. Specifically, he wonders how Rodgers’ legacy will compare to Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s.

On Wednesday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd decided to compare the careers of the two. He noted that while they have similar regular season numbers, Manning enjoyed far more postseason success, reaching four Super Bowls between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos.

Ultimately, Cowherd concluded that Manning’s career was better. But he still feels that the two compare very well.

“I think Peyton Manning has had a better career than Aaron Rodgers… Very Brady like,” Cowherd said.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t cross paths with Peyton Manning many times during their careers. They met in his first year as a starter in 2008, with Rodgers completing 75-percent of his passes in a 34-14 win over Manning’s Colts.

Their second and last meeting was in 2015 when Manning and the Broncos smothered Rodgers into just 77 passing yards in a dominating 29-10 win en route to winning the Super Bowl.

Their paths obviously never crossed in the postseason.

The next time their paths cross on a major stage will likely be at Rodgers’ Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
