Cardale Jones Hints That He Wants To Play For 1 NFL Team

July 25, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Cardale Jones plays in his first XFL DC Defenders game.

Cardale Jones is well aware of what’s going on between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers this offseason. The former Ohio State star is shooting his shot, as a result.

Jones, a current free agent, sent a message to the Packers on Saturday. He mentioned that he “like(s) the cold” in a response to Canadian Football League safety Tyvis Powell, who asked, “What the heck is going on in Green Bay?”

“Idk but I like the cold @packers,” Jones said on Twitter.

Jones last played in the NFL in 2019 when he was on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad for under two weeks. He then played for the DC Defenders in the XFL for five games before the XFL was shut down because of the pandemic in 2020. It looks like he’s ready to suit up and get back out on the gridiron.

The Packers don’t exactly need a quarterback at the moment. They have Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love, Blake Bortles, Jake Dolegala and Kurk Benkert under contract for training camp. Those five could narrow down to four, though, depending on what Rodgers decides to do.

Jones, nonetheless, clearly wants another shot in the NFL. He began his professional career in Buffalo where he served as the Bills’ third-string quarterback behind Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel.

His next stop came with the Chargers, where he spent the majority of his time on the practice squad. Seattle was his latest NFL stop, but it lasted only 11 days.

If the Packers need another quarterback, Jones will have his phone ready.
