Breaking down Packers' three picks in Draft Wire's latest mock draft

February 28, 2022 by Packers Wire

The Green Bay Packers landed a speedy wide recevier, a developmental edge rusher and a potential future starter at linebacker in Draft Wire’s latest mock draft projections before the NFL Scouting Combine.

Luke Easterling of Draft Wire gave the Packers the following players by round:

First: WR Jameson Williams, Alabama
Second: OLB Kingsley Enagbare, South Carolina
Third: LB Brian Asamoah, Oklahoma

Easterling believes Williams, a dynamic playmaker who tore his ACL in the national title game, could be a “huge steal” late in the first round. If nothing else, Williams could eventually provide the Packers with a high-upside replacement for vertical threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who is scheduled to be a free agent next month.

Enagbare is a big (6-4, 261) and powerful pass-rusher who could fill a need for the Packers on the edge. He may lack the juice to be a big-time disruptor but his skill set could be valuable if the Packers lose Za’Darius Smith from the pass-rushing rotation. Brandon Carwile of Packers Wire highlighted Enagbare as one of the pass-rushers to watch at the combine this week.

Asamoah (6-0, 222) might be undersized but he plays fast and could be useul in coverage and on special teams. Inside linebacker is a need position with De’Vondre Campbell and Oren Burks both scheduled to be free agents.

Reaction from Packers Wire’s Brennen Rupp

On Williams: “Jameson Williams is a Top 20 talent. If it weren’t for his ACL injury, he likely would have been the first WR off the board. He has game-changing speed and finished the season leading the SEC in yards per reception (19.9).”

On Enagbare: “It isn’t always pretty, but Kingsley Enagbare can get after the quarterback. He has ideal length and converts speed to power.”

On Asamoah: “Asamoah covers a lot of real estate with his quickness. He has the lateral agility to match running backs and tight ends in coverage. Against the run and as a blizter he comes downhill like he was shot out of a cannon.”
