Aaron Rodgers reportedly plans to play the 2021 NFL regular season…in Green Bay.

According to a report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Packers quarterback has indicated to those close to him that he plans on playing another season with the NFC North franchise.

Rodgers, the league’s MVP, reportedly requested a trade out of Green Bay earlier this offseason. He did not show up for voluntary OTAs or mandatory minicamp. But training camp is approaching and it appears we could be heading toward a resolution.

“Aaron Rodgers has indicated to people close to him that he does plan to play for GB this season, sources say. That is the expectation. Many factors at play, but with GM Brian Gutekunst saying he is ‘hopeful’ for a positive outcome, there is a glimmer of optimism,” Rapoport reported on Monday afternoon.

The Packers’ team president, Mark Murphy, commented on Rodgers’ status earlier in the day.

“We want him back, we’re committed to him for 2021 and beyond. He’s our leader and we’re looking forward to winning another Super Bowl,” he said.

Murphy, speaking at a team shareholder meeting, added that it’s a “challenging situation but let’s not forget all the great things he’s done.”

According to the latest reports, Rodgers might not be done doing great things in Green Bay.
