Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Cowboys are trading DE Micah Parsons to the Packers on Thursday.
Green Bay is sending the Cowboys two first-round picks as part of this trade along with veteran DL Kenny Clark.
Parsons has confirmed the news:
The Packers are signing Parson to a four-year, $188 million contract that includes $136 million guaranteed as part of the deal. Green Bay will pay Parsons $120 million fully guaranteed and $62 million in the first year of the deal.
This contract pays Parson a staggering $47 million per year, which makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Rapoport says that the Packers have quietly been working a trade for Parson over the last several days and agreed to terms on a deal two days ago. The Packers have since been negotiating the blockbuster deal with Parsons.
The Cowboys and Parson had been in a standoff regarding a long-term deal for a while now and there were no indications that the situation was going to improve in the near future. Parson later requested a trade out of Dallas, but it seems like Dallas was going to slow-play the situation being that they could have him under team control for another three years with franchise tags.
Rumors did, however, begin circulating in the last few days that the Packers were a seriously team to watch in a trade for Parsons and it looks like they were able to close the deal.
Parsons, 25, was the former No. 12 overall pick by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He played out the final year of a four-year, $17,079,792 rookie contract that included a $9,781,667 signing bonus.
Dallas exercised the fifth-year option for Parsons, and he’s slated to make $21.32 million guaranteed in 2025.
In 2024, Parsons appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and recorded 43 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection.
