Big day for Christian Watson in the Big Apple

November 20, 2025 by Packers Talk

For Christian Watson, it might have been just another day at the office.

But for someone who is just a few games back from an ACL injury last year, it means much more.

Watson, who missed the first couple games of the season while recovering from a season ending ACL injury last year, showed how much he means to this offense.

For the first time in a while, Watson had multiple touchdowns in the Packers victory against the Giants.

Watson scored the first and last touchdowns of the day.

Furthermore, those touchdowns were the first of the season.

On the day, Watson caught four passes for 46 yards.

But they were 4 big catches that contributed to the Packers’ four touchdown drives.

Watson’s performance couldn’t have come at a better time as the Packers offense was left without some of their stars.

First touchdown

Without Jordan Love, who was out with a shoulder injury, Christian Watson stepped up to help the Packers offense.

Malik Willis continued the Packers drive, gaining two first downs on the drive.

Facing a third and goal from the one yard line, Willis scrambled and fit a tight ball to Watson in the back of the endzone.

Watson said the play itself was more of a broken down play.

“I wasn’t really supposed to be in that spot, but I just saw a couple guys fly out, I went to dive down and get back to the corner.”

Watson continued to say, “I didn’t want to muddy up the window out there, so I kinda just stopped, and Malik found me.”

Helping a struggling offense

At one point in the game, the Packers WR’s were having trouble catching balls from Love.

Love re-entered the game but struggled moving the ball.

It looked like de-ja vu all over again from less than a week ago.

But Christian Watson helped the offense get back on track.

He made two key catches after Love came back in the game.

The first came in the second quarter.

A 12-yard pass from Love to Watson on third-and-7 helped continue a drive that ended with a Emanuel Wilson touchdown.

The second came at the start of the third quarter.

a 16-yarder catch on third-and-1 off a rollout, continued a drive that ended with a touchdown to tight end Josh Whyle.

Second Touchdown

Watson’s second touchdown came late in the fourth quarter.

With the Packers down 20-19 and in desperate need of a score, the Packers faced a second and 7 from the Giants 17-yard line.

Love bobbled a the snap but still stayed calm in the pocket.

From there, he found Christian Watson in the corner of the endzone and threw a beautiful pass for a 17-yard touchdown.

The score helped the Packers regain the lead 27-20 after a two-point conversion.

The Packers defense took care of the rest resulting in a victory for the Packers.

“We’ve got to find a way to go 1-0 every single week,” Watson said

He continued by saying ” Obviously the last two weeks haven’t gone our way, but we’ve just got to keep on pushing. It was just a great team win today.”
