Bears request head coach interview with Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich

January 14, 2025 by Packers Wire

The Chicago Bears requested an interview with Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich for their open head-coaching job, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This would be Stenavich’s first interview for a head coach job.

Stenavich, 41, has been the Packers offensive coordinator since 2022. Matt LaFleur first hired him as the offensive line coach on his first coaching staff in 2019, and he remained in that role for the next three seasons. Stenavich added run game coordinator to his role in 2021 before transitioning to offensive coordinator after Nathaniel Hackett departed following the 2021 season.

A Marshfield, Wisconsin native, Stenavich played offensive line at Michigan and spent five years as a player at the NFL level before moving on to coaching.

Stenavich got his NFL start with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. He spent two seasons as the assistant offensive line coach in San Francisco before joining the Packers.

The Bears are looking for a new head coach after firing Matt Eberflus midseason. Chicago lost 10 straight games after a 4-2 start but beat Green Bay in the season finale to finish 5-12.

While Stenavich could turn down the interview, the Packers can’t block it because becoming a head coach would be a promotion.

Adam Stenavich coaching experience

Michigan — graduate assistant (2012-13)
Northern Arizona — offensive line coach (2014)
San Jose State — offensive line coach (2015-16)
San Francisco 49ers — assistant offensive line coach (2017-18)
Green Bay Packers — offensive line coach (2019-2021)
Green Bay Packers — run game coordinator (2021)
Green Bay Packers — offensive coordinator (2022-present)
