2023 NFL Draft Adetomiwa Adebawore Scouting Report

While some may have difficulty remembering how to spell his name, his tape is unforgettable. Adetomiwa Adebawore was a three-star recruit out of the Kansas City area and decided to settle for Northwestern despite receiving offers from other schools. While only close to 250 pounds out of high school, Adebawore would soon grow into the physical freak that earned himself a 9.72 RAS score out of a possible 10.

Northwestern has produced top talent on the opposite side of the trenches in recent years with all-pro Rashawn Slater, and top-rated prospect in this year’s draft Peter Skoronski. It should be little surprise that facing this type of talent everyday in practice could produce a beast on the opposite side. Adebawore proved during his time at Northwestern that he not only has the athleticism to play on the edge, but he also has the power to win on the interior.

Adebawore played all four years of his time at Northwestern yet his snap share jumped significantly from his first season to his second and then again from his third to his final season. While he experienced a growth in playing time, he had production that followed. In his final two seasons at Northwestern, Adebawore tallied nine and a half sacks as well as over sixty pressures. While he may still be raw in terms of technique, teams are sure to jump on him for the potential he flashes.

Strengths:

  • Ran the fastest 40-yard dash time ever for a prospect over 280 pounds with an impressive time of 4.49;
  • Extremely versatile, can adapt to playing inside or outside and has production doing both;
  • Uses his elite athleticism to take advantage of offensive linemen, great habit of keeping his feet moving throughout the bull rush;
  • Great acceleration off the ball, already attacking while linemen are still getting into their stance;
  • A capable edge rusher but does most of his damage from the interior making him a game-wrecker.

Weaknesses:

  • Frame may lead to concerns about whether he can be overpowered at the next level;
  • Needs more moves in his pass rushing tool-belt;
  • Tendency to be too tight and liable to have pad level too high;
  • Too many missed tackles on film;
  • Has to be coached up on hand placement, too often can get hung up on blocker.

NFL Comparison: Grady Jarrett

Teams With A Need: Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs

Projection: Second Round

Bottom Line:

Adetomiwa Adebawore may have four seasons under his belt with Northwestern as well as playing against some top talent in practice, but he still is raw as a prospect. His potential however flashes an upside of a potential game wrecker that can dominate at the next level. Teams that draft Adebawore can expect a versatile player that may not be ready to play on day one. With some patience and coaching, however, Adebawore could be a crown jewel of a draft pick in a few years’ time.
