At his introductory press conference with the New York Jets, quarterback Aaron Rodgers addressed the falling out that he had with the Green Bay Packers. But he had arguably the most Rodgers-esque answer to the issue of his unanswered phone calls with his now-former team.
Rodgers asserted that the reason he didn’t respond to the “many” attempts that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst made to call him is two-fold – that he has poor cell service at his home and that he prefers FaceTime over phone calls.
“I don’t know if I need to really get into the specifics. I will say people that know me, I’m fortunate to live in a beautiful house. The only downside is I have very limited cell service. So if you want to get ahold of me, I have to see your face. You’ve got to FaceTime me…” Rodgers said.
Astounding. As you might imagine, that response is getting all kinds of responses from the wider sports world:
Here’s Aaron Rodgers’ full answer on why he didn’t return what Packers GM Brian Gutekunst described as “many” attempts to reach the QB this offseason:

“The need to FaceTime him actually sounds plausible. What doesn’t sound plausible is that the Packers didn’t know that or wouldn’t get that information from his agent or someone else after working with the guy for 18 years,” one user replied.
“I hope you guys ask Gute at the next Presser if he has FaceTime. This is absolutely a gold standard question that needs to be asked,” wrote another.
“Should have sent a damn carrier pigeon Gutey forever grateful Aaron, but this is the dumbest thing I’ve heard since “I’ve been immunized.” And with that, he’s all yours New York! See you back home in a couple years for your number retiring,” a third wrote.
This question will undoubtedly be brought up with Gutekunst at his next press conference.
