Aaron Rodgers reportedly declined a major contract offer from the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason.
All along, we’ve been told it was not about the money for Rodgers, who reportedly wants out of Green Bay. The MVP quarterback has failed to show up for voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp. It’s unclear if he plans on reporting for training camp later this month.
Tuesday morning, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that Rodgers turned down a significant contract offer from the Packers this offseason.
“This off-season, the Packers offered Aaron Rodgers a two-year contract extension that would have tied him to Green Bay for five more seasons and made him the highest-paid QB and player in football. Rodgers declined the offer, proof it’s not about the money,” he reports.

While Rodgers has yet to report to Green Bay this offseason, one of his former teammates remains confident that he’ll play for the Packers again.
“What have I said from the start? I said I don’t see him playing anywhere else, right?” former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk told Pat McAfee. “I don’t see Green Bay trading him. I don’t see that happening. I don’t know how it has to work, but, yeah, I still feel like he’s going to be in Green Bay.”
Only time will tell, of course.
