Saturday’s preseason game between the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers didn’t see reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers suit up. But he did get a front row seat to watch Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson play, and you can color him impressed with the former BYU star.
Speaking to the media during the game, Rodgers had high praise for Wilson. He complimented Wilson on his disposition and throwing skills. Rodgers added that he’s “excited for what he can do” in the NFL.
“He’s a good young kid, has a nice disposition,” Rodgers said, via Yahoo Sports. “That kid can throw the heck out of that ball and that was a nice one down the right sideline at the end of the first. I’m so excited for what he can do in this league.”
Zach Wilson impressed on the scoresheet as well. He completed 9-of-11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in one half of football. In four total drives, he led the Jets to 17 points.

Interestingly enough, Aaron Rodgers was one of the many players Zach Wilson drew pro comparisons to in the scouting stage leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft. The Jets were compelled enough by the tape to take Wilson No. 2 overall in the QB-stacked draft.
Wilson was promptly named the starter and has certainly taken his share of lumps since the summer started. His training camp has been very up-and-down, but he’s looked relatively sharp in his two preseason games.
Aaron Rodgers may be on the Zach Wilson hype train for now, but it will take more than the MVP’s vote of approval to thrive in the NFL.
What were your thoughts on Wilson during the game yesterday?
