A new low for the Packers

January 6, 2025 by Howard Brubaker

The Green Bay Packers have sunk to a new low. They lost to the Chicago Bears in Lambeau Field to complete a 1-5 record in the NFC North division. A division they once owned. That certainly has changed this season. From the looks of it, all three teams now have a better quarterback than the one the Packers are rolling out there right now.

While it came down to a field goal on the last play this game was lost in the first quarter. The Packers’ offense was horrible again to start the game. Jordan Love couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with his throws and then got hurt. Malik Willis came in and looked the Malik Willis that got dumped by the Tennessee Titans. Not the one that lead the Packers to three wins earlier in the year.

Head coach Matt LaFleur was out-coached by a guy who started the season has a janitor for the Bears. It was ridiculous. The Packers got a late turnover and all they had to do was gain a few yards and run out the clock and kick the game winning field goal. But LaFleur said he was “caught off-guard” by the turnover and mistaking called a timeout after third down. I guess he got a text or something and wasn’t paying attention to the game. This was a Matt Eberflus level clock management blunder.

Defense only gives up 17 points

The Packers’ defense probably did enough to win but with the game on the line melted down like butter in a microwave. Hafley has done a lot of good things this year but his play calling on that last drive was not part of it. How on earth do you let the Bears complete a pass over the middle with 15 seconds left? And then all you have to do is lay on the guy for a couple of seconds and the game is over, but nope. Didn’t do that, either.

The Packers are now heading into the playoffs having been beaten soundly by the Vikings and losing to a team that had lost 10 games in a row. They also have an offense that can’t throw the ball. Next week is going to ugly my friends.
