The Packers haven’t been too active with their history of trades, especially impact trades.
Yes, when it come to trading up for draft picks or trading away draft picks the Packers are active.
But when it comes to receiving receiving players through a trade the Packers aren’t the most luckiest team.
But the Packers have made some impactful trades during in their history.
With the trade of Micah Parsons last week, I wanted to look back at some of the most successful trades the Packers have made.
And where does the Micah Parsons trade rank among the Packers trades?
5. Al Harris

In early 2003 the Packers were looking for another corner to play opposite Mike Mckenzie after Tyrone Williams left the team.
The Packers found the right guy in Al Harris.
Harris was traded to the Packers for second round draft pick.
Meanwhile the Packers received a 4th round pick along with Harris.
Harris had a fine career with the Packers that went from 2003-2009.
He was the Packers primary corner during that time.
His career highlights includes a pick six in the Packers playoff game against the Seahawks in 2004.
Harris had 14 interceptions and made the Pro Bowl twice.
While the trade went under the radar for most Packers fans, the impact of the trade cannot be overlooked.
Harris was a great corner for the Packers and solidified the physicality that the Packers corners of today play with.
4. Willie Davis

The Packers received a Hall of Famer in this trade back in July of 1960.
Willie Davis was traded to the Packers from the Browns for Receiver A.D Williams.
Under legendary coach Vince Lombardi, Davis became one of the most dominant defensive lineman of his time.
Davis was part of the championship teams of the 60’s.
He was also All-NFL selection five times in six years from 1962 to 1967 and selected to play in five consecutive Pro Bowls.
On the opposite end A.D Williams would only end up playing two more years and catch 14 passes during that time.
3. Ahman Green

Yet another trade that went under the radar but the impact cannot be ingnored.
Ahman Green was trade to Green bay for Defensive Back Fred Vinson.
At the time the Packers were looking for a back-up back to complement Dorsey Levens.
Instead the Packers got their all time leading rusher in team history.
During his time in Green Bay Green had 5 straight seasons of over 1,000 yards.
In 2009 he broke the Packers all time leading rushing record and it still stands today.
Meanwhile Vinson never played a down in Seattle and was released by the team.
2. Micah Parsons

Yes, he hasn’t even played a down in Green Bay but the reason why I put the trade at 2 is because of the caliber of player Parsons is.
Parsons is in his prime right now and is playing at a Hall of fame level.
12 plus sacks every year since he has been in the league.
He is also a disrupter on defense.
Never before have the Packers done a trade where the player is on the path the greatness.
You saw the trades I listed before this one.
At the time it was unknown what the Packers were getting.
With Parsons, we know what we could possibly get.
Yet this trade is listed at 2 because we still have to wait to see how Parsons plays.
5 years from now this trade could be off this list but for now its at 2 for the potential impact this trade could have.
1. Brett Favre

Possibly one of the most important trades in Packers history because of what it did for this franchise.
At the time the Packers only won 1 playoff game since winning Super Bowl II and the Packers were the laughing stock of the league.
Then GM Ron Wolf made a risky move by trading one of his first round draft picks to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2nd string, unproven QB, Brett Favre.
What followed was a Hall of Fame career for Favre.
Not only did Wolf, Favre and Holmgren turn around a franchise, it restored the meaning of Titletown in Green Bay.
The trade also showed that you need a QB to be relevant in the NFL.
It also showed the importance of a QB in the NFL.
Since then the Packers have made it a priority to make sure they have the best QB.
From Favre to Rodgers to Love, the QB position is now one of the most important because of that trade.
