3 Teams Interested In Deebo Samuel: Fans React

April 23, 2022 by The Spun

Deebo Samuel runs down the field while carrying the football.

In the two days since word that Deebo Samuel is asking to be traded, interested teams have started lining up to make an offer to the 49ers.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have all expressed interest in trading for Samuel. Those three teams have been identified as potential suitors since word of the trade request first crossed the wire.

None of the teams have reportedly made a trade offer yet. That may be because the 49ers are reportedly not hearing any offers for their all-world hybrid receiver/running back.

NFL fans seem to be pointing to the Packers as the obvious pick out of the three. The common argument is that Green Bay is much closer to winning a Super Bowl than the other two:

If the packers don’t pull the damn trigger and help Aaron https://t.co/BBDSZ0AaJU

Packers would be a nice fit but he’s a wide back though https://t.co/zYrcXfYcX2

Let’s hope he goes to the winning team out of the three https://t.co/Glpys1jt4Z

On paper, the New York Jets make the most sense: They have prior connections to San Francisco through head coach Robert Saleh and their offensive coaching staff. The Jets also have a motherload of draft capital that they can offer up to the 49ers, including two top 10 picks in next week’s draft.

But that isn’t to say that Green Bay and Detroit aren’t appealing options either.

Green Bay’s excellence over the past few years speaks for itself and Aaron Rodgers is still going strong as he nears 40. If it’s a title Deebo Samuel is chasing, he’d have a better chance of winning one with the Packers than the other two teams.

Detroit has some appeal as the team really came together under head coach Dan Campbell last year. Despite finishing last in the NFC, there’s rare optimism that the Lions are about to turn the corner. And they have comparable draft picks to the Jets to make a deal appealing.

Which of these three teams do you find most likely to trade for Deebo Samuel?
