3 Keys to Victory in Green Bay vs Chicago

December 5, 2025 by Packers Talk

Week 14 is upon us and it is the most important matchup between Green Bay and Chicago since Week 17 of 2013. The NFC North Division leading Chicago Bears(9-3) travel to Green Bay(8-3-1) with the division lead and potentially Number 1 seed in the NFC on the line. Today we will take a dive into the highly anticipated NFC North Division clash between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers, focusing on the 3 biggest keys to victory for the Packers.

Protect the Football

The first key to victory for Green Bay has to be protecting the football. It is no surprise a key component to the Chicago Bears success thus far has been their defense generating turnovers. The Bears lead the NFL with 26 turnovers in 12 games. Fortunately for Green Bay, they lead the NFL with the fewest giveaways. A true strength vs strength matchup could be what sways this game in one way or another on Sunday. Jordan Love learned quite a bit from his predecessor Aaron Rodgers, although most NFL media would like you to believe Jordan is a turnover machine. That simply has not been the case as Jordan Love has protected the ball. Love has a 2.7 turnover worthy play rate in 2025. Who ever ends up on the right side of this battle should be in prime position to win this game.

Below AtoZSportsNFL writer Wendell Ferreira shared a tweet showing the Bears defensive statistics with and without turnovers-

Also Cheesehead TV’s Aaron Nagler and Corey Behnke also shared their thoughts on the takeaways-

Limit the Bears Rushing Attack

The second key to victory for the Green Bay Packers in Week 14 is stopping the Chicago Bears rushing attack. The Bears are coming off an impressive Week 13 win vs the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Chicago dominated from start to finish vs Philadelphia pounding the football down the Eagles throats. Running Backs Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Smith each rushed for over 100 yards for the first time since Walter Payton and Matt Suhey did it in 1985. It is not just the running backs having success, 1st year head coach Ben Johnson has dialed up some impressive designs to free up his backs. The Packers are going to need to come ready to stop the run first this week. The recipe teams have used to slow down the Packers is controlling the clock by running the ball and limiting possessions for the Green Bay offense. The Packers have the 7th ranked rushing defense in the NFL allowing 98.3 yards per game. They will have their hands full this week if they can’t slow down this Bears rushing attack, stopping them is imperative to the Packers success on Sunday.

Let Jordan Love Cook

The last key to victory in Week 14 has to be letting Quarterback Jordan Love Cook(it is Toyotathon). On a week Love will be playing the Chicago Bears, he was nominated as the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Love also earned the Week 13 NFC Offensive player of the week award. For the Packers to be successful on Sunday they will need their Quarterback to show up in a big way. One negative that could impact the game and Love this Sunday is the frigid cold temperatures. Luckily for the Packers help could be on the way in the form of Rookie Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed. If both return for Green Bay it could really open up this offense for Matt LaFleur and company. If the Packers are going to walk away with a win this week, it means Mr. Toyotathon showed up again.
