3 Green Bay Packers Ready for More Playing Time

July 4, 2025 by Packers Talk

The 2025 Green Bay Packers seem poised to be right in the thick of things in the NFC. General Manager Brian Gutekunst has adopted the draft and develop philosophy from his predecessor Ted Thompson. For the Packers to take that next step in 2025 they will need some of the younger players on their roster to take a leap. Today we will dive into 3 Green Bay Packers ready for more playing time.

MarShawn Lloyd

The first player on our 3 Green Bay Packers ready for more playing time is 2024 3rd round draft pick running back MarShawn Lloyd. The Packers of course have Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs on the roster. However for the team to achieve their main goal in 2025 they will need a healthy Jacobs come playoff time. The biggest piece to keeping Jacobs healthy in 2025 is Lloyd. Green Bay selected Lloyd 88th overall with hopes of a nice change of pace to Jacobs. 2024 ended up being a redshirt year for Lloyd due to injuries to his hip and hamstring. If MarShawn Lloyd can stay healthy, look for him to play a pivotal role for this Green Bay Packers offense.

Below is a clip from PackADay podcast host Andy Herman and Paul Bretl discussing MarShawn Lloyd and what Lloyd can bring to the 2025 Green Bay Packers Offense.

Luke Musgrave

Luke Musgrave

Second of our 3 Green Bay Packers ready for more playing time is 2023 2nd Round draft pick Tight End Luke Musgrave. Musgrave was drafted 42nd overall in hopes he would become the number 1 Tight End in Green Bay. Unfortunately the same thing that hampered Musgrave in college has plagued him in the NFL thus far. Musgrave has had trouble staying on the field in his young career. Between the injuries and the emergence of Tight End Tucker Kraft drafted right after Musgrave, it has been hard to truly figure out what Musgrave can bring to the Packers offense. There is no better time than now for Luke Musgrave. It is no secret Coach Matt Lafleur has been looking to utilize 12 personnel. If he can stay healthy and live up to his potential, the sky is the limit in Green Bay.

Jordan Morgan

Last on our list of 3 Green Bay Packers ready for more playing time is 2024 1st round pick Jordan Morgan. Much like Lloyd and Musgrave, injuries plagued Morgan in 2024. Appearing in only 6 games and starting 1 was not what the Packers hoped for when selecting Morgan 25th overall. Green Bay’s offensive line was good in 2024 but could be great if Morgan can stay healthy and take a step in 2025. Games are won and lost up front, and Morgan provides the Packers a chance to raise their level of play in the trenches. Even if he’s not a Week 1 starter, Morgan could be a hugely important sixth offensive lineman.
