Wisconsin’s top four-star WR target cancels official visit to in-state school

The Badgers are firmly in the mix for 2025 four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit.

The Wisconsin Badgers are in quite a few recruiting battles with the 2026 class, as they look to close on their top targets this month.

They’ve hosted quite a few top players over the past two weekends, with another group coming to town this weekend.

One of the more intriguing positions is at wide receiver, where Wisconsin has gotten a commitment from three-star Tayshon Bardo and is hoping to add two more in the 2026 class.

Top targets include three-star Zachary Washington, four-star Jayden Petit, and four-star Zion Legree.

Washington, an Illinois native, has Wisconsin and Michigan State atop his board. The Badgers seem to be the leaders, but he had an official visit with the Spartans last weekend that went well. He’ll visit West Virginia this weekend.

Legree, a longtime Ole Miss commit, is in the process of scheduling visits now that he’s de-committed from the Rebels. Wisconsin gets a crack at him this weekend, with wide receivers coach Jordan Reid already starting to form a good relationship.

Petit, on the other hand, has quite a number of teams still vying for him. He visited Wisconsin last weekend and is heading to North Carolina this weekend.

A Florida native, he was expected to visit the in-state Miami Hurricanes next weekend, but that visit has been canceled and instead replaced with one to Missouri. That represents a change in Petit’s recruitment, as the in-state schools (Miami and Florida) both seemed like big draws.

Now, this recruitment seems between Wisconsin, Oklahoma, UNC, and Missouri, the four schools where Petit is taking visits too. It seems to be a very tight race, but the Badgers would get a big win if they could land the 6’4, 195-pound wideout.
