The senior from Minneapolis will be looking for a new team, as a grad transfer, for his final year of eligibility.
On Monday afternoon, Verbal Commits and Evan Flood of 247 Sports reported that Wisconsin Badgers senior guard Walt McGrory was entering his name into the transfer portal. The native of Minneapolis will be immediately eligible as he is going into the portal as a graduate transfer.

McGrory joined the Badgers from Edina (Minn.) High School as a walk-on. Flood notes in his post that McGrory had offers from Drake, Brown, Furman, South Dakota State and Maine coming out of high school but still chose Wisconsin.
A two-time Academic All-Big Ten student, McGrory finish his prep career as Edina High School’s all-time leading scorer with 2,126 career points, averaging 26.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game as a senior.
He only appeared in one game this season, at Northwestern, and recorded only one minute. For his career McGrory has played in 37 total games, averaging 4.4 minutes per game, scoring 26 points (0.7 ppg), hauling in 19 boards (0.5 rpg), dishing out 10 assists and getting five steals.
He appeared in nine straight games during his freshman season because D’Mitrik Trice and Kobe King were both injured and two seasons later, as a junior, he recorded a career-high nine points in 24 minutes against McNeese State. McGrory even hit a three pointer in the 2019 NCAA Tournament loss to Oregon.
We at B5Q hope that McGrory finds a new home and succeeds wherever that is.
