Is Jeff Grimes or Mike Tressel under more pressure to succeed in 2025?

The Wisconsin Badgers made a major coordinator move this offseason, plucking Jeff Grimes from the Kansas Jayhawks to replace the fired Phil Longo at offensive coordinator.
Grimes, a longtime offensive coordinator with stints at Kansas, Baylor, and BYU, was hired in hopes of a return to Wisconsin’s roots, incorporating a run-heavy scheme with a vertical passing attack that involves more movement at the line of scrimmage.
He will try to improve a Wisconsin offense that was in the bottom third of the NCAA in 2024, but faces a grueling schedule and some elite defenses in 2025.
That wasn’t the only major change that Wisconsin made this offseason, as the Badgers elected to change up their defensive scheme under Mike Tressel, looking to get bigger up front to better stop the run.
That involved a significant amount of transfer portal action, as Wisconsin lost a few defensive linemen, while adding six front seven players who could all see playing time in 2025.
Head coach Luke Fickell and the Badgers have some pressure building ahead of the 2025 season, as they’re looking to return to bowl eligibility after their worst season in 22 years. To reach that status, they’ll need better play on both sides of the ball with the new scheme changes.
With that said, which coordinator is under more pressure to perform in 2025? Is it Grimes, who will be tasked with figuring out the Badgers’ identity on offense? Or Tressel, who will need better results than the past two years with a new defensive look?
