The Badgers had one of their strongest seasons in recent memory in 2017.
The Wisconsin Badgers have had quite a program history, including a 22-year bowl streak, several Rose Bowl and New Year’s Six appearances, and a haul of talented NFL players.
Over the years, there’ve been several wildly successful teams, and 2017 was one of those seasons in recent memory.
That year, the Badgers went 13-1, winning the most games in program history and being ranked as high as No. 3 in the AP Poll. The only loss that season came in the Big Ten Championship against No. 8 Ohio State, sinking their hopes of making the College Football Playoff.
So, it’s no surprise that fans overwhelmingly voted for it as the team’s best year in the last decade in our weekly Reacts post.

76 percent of fans believed that 2017 was the year, while 13 percent voted for 2016 and 11 percent voted for 2019.
Wisconsin went 11-3 in 2016, reaching as high as No. 5 in the AP Poll while facing a number of tougher teams. On the other hand, the Badgers finished 10-4 in 2019, but were ranked as high as No. 6 in the AP Poll.
In 2025, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Badgers’ win total at only 5.5 games, which makes sense when considering how tough their schedule is. So, it’s unlikely a miraculous year like the past will come together.
But, when looking all-time, that 2017 year was a special one for the Badgers, with quite a few NFL talents on the team.
