The Badgers could be a big player in the state in the Class of 2027.
In the new era of college basketball, the Wisconsin Badgers have primarily focused on the transfer portal, looking for ready-now players that fit their needs.
As a result, there hasn’t been as much of a focus on high school recruiting, with Wisconsin primarily focusing on certain in-state players and overseas connections. In their 2025 class, the Badgers got a top talent, four-star guard Zach Kinziger, who wanted to be at Wisconsin.
Three-star in-state center Will Garlock was a similar fit, while guard Hayden Jones and forward Aleksas Bieliauskas were overseas additions.
In the class of 2026, Wisconsin got in early on three-star in-state forward LaTrevion Fenderson, while also tapping into the overseas pool with guard Jackson Ball.
However, things could change in the 2027 class, where the in-state pool of talent is looking very good from the initial outlook.
There are already five four-star recruits from the state of Wisconsin in the Class of 2027: forward Donovan Davis, forward Dooney Johnson, guard Jalen Brown, forward Jack Kohnen, and forward Kager Knueppel.
They’re all top 115 players in the Class of 2027 according to the 247Sports composite, and everyone but Knueppel already has an offer from Wisconsin after this week.
Several were in town to camp with the Badgers this week, standing out amongst the pack as Wisconsin got to see the talented group in person.
Of course, when it comes to high school recruiting, fit and NIL will still be relevant, but the Badgers could be in for something with their 2027 class.
