The Badgers lost a few players to the transfer portal this offseason.
The Wisconsin Badgers went through an overhaul this offseason, as several top players entered the transfer portal following the departure of head coach Marisa Moseley.
That group included star forward Serah Williams, who had been one of the program’s leaders over the past few seasons. A perennial All-Big Ten player, Williams averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game, being named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team and the All-Big Ten First Team.
Now, Williams has her next destination, transferring to UConn for the final year of her collegiate eligibility. The senior will join the defending champions and their talented frontcourt, which currently features Big East Freshman of the Year Sarah Strong and center Jana El Alfy.
The Badgers saw several players depart this offseason after moving on with head coach Robin Pingeton, who, in return, has brought in a number of transfers to bolster the roster.
One of Wisconsin’s biggest additions was a retention, however, as the Badgers were able to get Ronnie Porter to withdraw her name from the transfer portal and return as the team’s point guard next year.
It’ll be a brand new Badgers squad in 2025, but that will not include Serah Williams, who is headed to UConn.
