Evers, a four-star quarterback in the Class of 2022, spent his redshirt freshman season with the Oklahoma Sooners before transferring to Wisconsin last offseason.
With the Badgers, Evers had a slow start, as he fell behind while learning a new offense, leading to him primarily working with the third-team offense.
Coming into this offseason, Evers looked improved, which offensive coordinator Phil Longo noted, but didn’t see much action with the top two offenses as graduate transfer Tyler Van Dyke and redshirt sophomore Braedyn Locke took up all of those reps.
As a result, Evers elected to enter the transfer portal with three years of remaining eligibility, looking to find a better opportunity for playing time.
Now, he’s headed to UConn, where he’ll reunite with wideout Skyler Bell, who transferred to the Huskies in the winter. Additionally, former Badgers cornerback/wideout Dean Engram announced his decision to transfer to UConn on Tuesday.
At UConn, Evers should immediately step into the competition for the starting job, as former starting quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson announced his decision to transfer from the Huskies on Wednesday as well.
