Wisconsin added a rotational forward who could fill a stretch four role in 2025.
The Wisconsin Badgers have signed Temple Owls transfer forward Elijah Gray, the school announced on Tuesday.
Gray, a 6’8, 235-pound forward, will take the team’s 15th and final roster spot, coming to Wisconsin for his senior season.
As a junior at Temple, Gray averaged 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from three. Prior to that, he spent two seasons at Fordham, averaging 8.4 points and 3.7 rebounds as a sophomore.
Gray is expected to take the backup stretch-four role for the Badgers, adding some key frontcourt depth behind projected starters Austin Rapp and Nolan Winter. Winter is stepping into the starting center role, replacing Steven Crowl. Rapp, on the other hand, is taking Winter’s role as the starting power forward.
Now, Gray will take the Carter Gilmore/Xavier Amos role as the projected top forward off the bench, giving Wisconsin an immediate solution as they evaluate their younger options ahead of the season.
Gray has slowly improved his three-point shot, hitting 30.4 percent from deep in 2024-25 on 1.8 attempts per game. He also hit 75 percent of his free throws.
Wisconsin had landed Rapp early in the offseason, but didn’t really have any proven frontcourt depth behind him and Winter, instead landing 19-year-old Lithuanian forward Aleksas Bieliauskas to go with freshman center Will Garlock.
It wasn’t clear what direction the Badgers were going to go initially with their 15th roster spot, be it an overseas player or another transfer, but the frontcourt was a clear area of need.
Wisconsin has now added that issue and is set for the upcoming season. Here’s the full roster:
