A Badgers transfer is returning home for his final year of eligibility.

The Wisconsin Badgers have seen quite a few players come and go this offseason, as they’re losing 10 scholarship players, while already bringing five in.

Wisconsin lost six seniors due to eligibility, many of whom played a role in the rotation this season, while four players elected to transfer: guards Daniel Freitag and Camren Hunter, and forward Xavier Amos and Chris Hodges.

Hunter was the first to find a new home, heading back to Central Arkansas, where he spent the first three years of his college career.

Now, Amos has followed suit, as the junior committed to Loyola Chicago for his final year of eligibility. Amos, who stands 6’8, 215 pounds, averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds, while shooting 37.4 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three for the Badgers in 2024-25.

Prior to that, he was a starter for Northern Illinois in 2023-24, where he averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Amos is heading back to his home state to play for the Ramblers, who went 25-12 this season, good for third in the A10.

While playing limited minutes for the Badgers, Amos had a few flashy games, scoring 12 points and three three-pointers in an 88-62 win over Washington and 11 points in Wisconsin’s first-round win over Montana.

Entering the offseason, Amos was expected to take on a bigger role behind Nolan Winter with Carter Gilmore out of eligibility. But, the Badgers went and added Portland forward Austin Rapp in the transfer portal, leaving Amos’s minutes in flux unless he played a different role.

Now, he’ll look for a bigger role at Loyola Chicago in his final year of eligibility.
